What’s The Average Cost of Moving?
Most local move under 100 kilometers cost $80–$100 per hour for two movers; $120-165 per hour for three movers. So local movers are priced on the size of your home. Averaging between ~$650 to ~$1,500.
While a long-distance move is significantly more expensive. On average, it costs $2,000–$5,000 per move for more than 100 kilometers and have more factors to consider like weight, point of origin and final destination.
Both local and long distance moves are usually equipped with a truck, moving blankets and all the necessary moving equipment.

Other Factors Included In Moving Costs
Your Location: Do you live in an apartment or condo without an elevator or is your building not accessible requiring more walk time from the exit to the moving truck. Can the moving truck dock directly at your home or does your move require a satellite truck to taxi your belongings to a larger truck. If you’re moving somewhere accessible via ferry there are also surcharges.
High Demand Season: Moving from May to August is the peak season for moving companies so if your move out and move-in dates are strict during high season the price may vary. Be sure to plan in advance as last-minute moves vary in costs.
Dropping Off Items: Should you decided to drop off some of your items at another location other than the final destination expect to pay more as the labor fees are by the hour.
Moving Any special items: Need to move a piano, car(s), boats, art? Be prepared to pay more for moving those special items.
